This week, another batch of 1for1.clUb socks left our hands and headed somewhere they matter most... into Hobart's Safe Spaces run by our giving partners.
Why socks matter more than you think
For people experiencing crisis, access to clean, durable socks isn’t a given. Second-hand socks can’t be accepted for hygiene reasons, and cheaper synthetic options often wear out quickly or start to smell after a single use.
That’s where our approach is deliberate. The same merino socks designed for multi-day hikes (ie warmth, breathability, durability) are the ones heading to Hobart City Mission's Safe Spaces. The conditions are different, but the need is identical: something that lasts, something that works, something that restores a bit of normality.
What happens next
These socks don’t sit in storage. They move quickly into circulation through Safe Spaces places where people can access support, warmth, and basic essentials with dignity.
They’ll be worn:
- through long days without access to washing
- in cold conditions where warmth matters
- by people who simply need something reliable
Not as a handout, but as a practical solution to a real problem.
Designed for both worlds
There’s a direct link between the product and the purpose. The same features that make sense for hikers with long wear, odour resistance, comfort over days... are exactly what’s needed in crisis environments.
That alignment is intentional. It’s not about creating a “different” product for impact. It’s about making one product that works equally well in both contexts.
The role you play
Every time someone chooses 1for1.clUb, this process repeats. One pair for you. One pair delivered to someone doing it tough.
No extra step required. No separate donation. Just a better purchase decision.
And this week, that decision means more people walking into Safe Spaces with one less thing to worry about.
